Introduction. The article discusses the empirical research results of the spiritual and value development of convicted women of criminogenic type. As significant criteria of spiritual and moral development, personal values, responsibility and structural elements of spirituality are analysed. The relevance of the study is determined by the importance of effective organisation of psychological and pedagogical work with this category of convicts and their subsequent successful return to society. The hypothesis of the study was that the convicts of the criminogenic type, regardless of convictions number are characterised by a limited idea about significant personal guidances, low level of responsibility and spirituality. The study sample consisted of 107 female convicts aged 38-45 with two or more convictions. Methods. The research of the spiritual and value development level of women of the criminogenic type, serving criminal sentences repeatedly, was based on cross section technology using the following psychodiagnostic methods: “Differential scale of actual values” (“D.S.A.V.”) (N. A. Samoylik), multidimensional-functional diagnosis “Responsibility” (RESP-70) (V. P. Pryadein), “Diagnosis of the personality spirituality level” (“DPSL”) (N. V. Klimova, N. A. Samoylik). Results. The leading positions among the personal values of convicted women, no matter their criminal record, are such categories as health, love, and family. The values of justice, positive outlook on the world, and self-confidence come next. The idea of responsibility is represented at the middle and lower levels among convicted women. That is revealed in unwillingness or inability to take responsibility for their words, deeds and activities in general. Apart from the number of convictions, it has been found that convicted women have a low level of integrated spirituality. Due to the fragility of the spiritual-value sphere, life goals are vague and more closely identified with the presence in a penitentiary institution.
